Auchenlaurie is ideally situated in an impressive location that overlooks the quaint and friendly Wigtown Bay. The park has direct access to a secluded sandy beach, and is a great choice for an active family holiday or a tranquil and restorative short break.

As well as having historical and cultural places of interest in the area, the area is reknownwed for its stark natural beauty, and in the holiday park itself has superb sea views. It's castles and quaint villages are nestled amongst it's forests, lovely beaches, and wild moorlands.

If you fancy a bit of golf, whether your a pro or you just fancy a go, then there's 30 clubs to try out in the area. Mind you, if like George Bernard Shaw you think golf is the ruination of a good walk, then there a plenty scenic walks in the area, including a stroll around the picturesque coastal village of Creetown.

If you've ever seen the cult film "The Wicker Man", then you'll understand what is meant by the beauty of the local area, as this is where the film was shot. Although we're sure the warm feeling that you get from the locals won't be quite the same as Edward Woodward's.

Threave Castle is accessible only by a marvelous boat ride, and once you're there you can also explore the gardens, which all add up to a great way for the family to while away a few hours.

The park is one of Haven Holidays' 'active breaks', which means that there are plenty of physical facilities and activities on site, including a gym and indoor heated swimming pool, and all-weather multi-court sports hall. If you're avoiding exertion you can still take advantage of the sauna and solarium, and if you fancy a bit of pampering, then there is the beauty salon and hairdressers.

There's plenty to keep the children occupied including the adventure playground and children's club. Onsite, in the evening there are two pubs, and a restaurant and activities such as bingo which no holiday park would be complete without.

There's plenty to do in and around the park, although you may be content to sit back and soak up the natural beauty of the area. The only downside is that due to the steep gradients and steps the park is not suitable for wheelchair users and those people with mobility difficulties.
