Located in a stunning and tranquil setting, right next to the beach below Sinniness Point, this holiday park offers a real escape for anyone seeking a 'get away from it all' holiday. This means that although there are facilities on the park, the park is not designed for for those who want to spend two weeks without passing out through the gates. It's a lovely place to sit and enjoy the view and serenity of the area, or read a good book, but if it's activity you want there's plenty about outside the site.

Having said that, there are panoramic views of the Mull of Galloway and the Isle of Man, so if you do fancy a few days respite without gadding about the countryside, then you've still got beautifully scenery on your doorstep to help you unwind and remind you of how tranquil the world can be in the right place.

And if it is a booklovers lodge holiday that you are after, then don't bother cramming you car with books, as Wigtown has around 20 bookshops including the largest secondhand bookstore in Scotland. If you fancy a drive a little further, then head just south of town to the little village of Bladnoch for a wee dram of single malt – there’s been a distillery here since 1817 - it would be a shame not to stock up while you're there.

For a bit of activity there is superb fishing and safe swimming – warmed by the Gulf stream, and with its easy rolling hills and beautiful coastline, the area is great for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. And being as we're in Scotland, there's four golf courses within 20 miles - even if you've never played before, this would be the perfect opportunity to give it go - you never know, you might uncover a hidden talent!

With more history and culture than you can poke a large stick at, you're not going to run out of things to do!
